Golf Outing Wrap Up!

The Central High School Athletic Boosters want to send a note of thanks for attending, sponsoring and/or donating to the 16th Annual Jacob Frazier Memorial Golf Outing.  As we have had a few weeks to reflect on the event, we feel fortunate to be a part of such a great community, happy to meet new friends and excited to be partnered with great organizations – the Illinois Military Relief Fund and the Tactical Air Control Party.  We had the perfect day for golf, although we could have done without the mosquitos on a couple of the shaded tee boxes.  105 golfers took part in the event with 114 guests for dinner.
The event kicked off with the Annual 301 Golf Ball Drop.  Thanks to everyone who purchased a golf ball or many golf balls.  There was no measuring needed this year since 3 balls ended up in the cup.  The $3750 was split 3 ways between the Freeman, Andersen, and Schmitt Families.  Tom Knief lead us through the opening remarks and McKenzie West did an outstanding job singing the National Anthem.  After the opening ceremonies the golfers took off to their starting holes.  At the end of the day, we all gathered to break bread and enjoy each other’s company over a great meal with multiple speakers sharing the successes of Central High School Athletics and the 301 community.  As has become a great tradition at the event, Jim Frazier capped off the evening by sharing the background of the event and sharing stories about Jacob.
We were able to raise over $25,000 from the strong support of our community and our outstanding sponsors.  $2,500 will go to the Illinois Military Relief Fund so they can continue to support our military families.  Another $2000 will go to fund the 2 – $1000 Jacob Frazier Memorial Scholarships that go to one male and one female Central student athlete.  The remaining monies will be used to benefit Central High School Athletics.  In addition to the money raised, Dan Curtin and the Tactical Air Control Party (based in Peoria), raised $1000 from their unit to fund a scholarship which goes to one Central High School student athlete who will go into a ROTC program in college or who will go directly into the Armed Services.  A special thanks to Dan and Jacob’s unit for their continued support.
Without the support of the Frazier Family, Jacob’s unit, the 301 community and our sponsors, we could not put on this event.
